IMHO Cloud functions serve well a very small niche. However most of the people advocating for cloud functions seem to misused them. Their use cases would be better served using a well designed PaaS(though I admit is hard to find a good one

yeah...they are non-profit right? :)) Let's take Amazon for example, or Google or Facebook...how much do they invest in R&D? Last time I've checked they reported billions in profit every quarter.

I think the tax should be on profit based on where the users are located not on gross revenue. This looks more like a capitulation in the fight against various tax evading schemes employed by these companies. Isn't possible to just giv

I wonder if the performance gain is worth the effort. Surely you can always squeeze more performance from JS like from any other language but what's the point if you spend hours to match the performance you get for "free" fro

Freedom to deploy anywhere is quite important to some people. One can truly appreciate it only after gets burned by one of these "cloud" provides(i.e. Google appengine/cloud).

Ok so what happens if I contribute to a open source project with my default fmt configuration if that project doesn't use the default configuration? Will people yell at me to "fix" the formatting?

Yeah, I guess that's the Rust way. The more options/configurations the better! Simplicity is not on the top list for sure.

Transpilation to JS always sucks. JS was not designed as a compiler target. The point of WASM is exactly that: Compile any language on the web without getting into the JS limitation.
