At 15 I sat with a book about QBASIC and got to a certain point, got stuck, and had nobody around me to ask for help and no idea what to do. I decided I wasn't smart enough for programming and stuck to basic html and CSS for years and

User expectations about a deletion would probably be "make it as though this was never uploaded": no copy, no backup, no recoverable form whatsoever. And yet, if it was not deleted, and there was a problem requiring backups to b

I've used one in the past to organize my monthly routine. Seeing the "size" of my expectations for each week helps a lot. I used text2mindmap for this and a few other things. Didn't realize it was down, thanks for this!

I find it useful for tracking people who attend music camps I run, whatever they have chosen, paid for, dietary issues etc. It’s very friendly for setting up things like Booleans, formulas, different types of data, without having to know mu

Having dabbled in web development for 15+ years, I feel like there can be a lot of pain involved in getting a dev environment set up and configured correctly for a project these days. But to me it is worth it: the resulting workflow becomes

I just got one of those warnings yesterday and found it very useful. Shame you were not permitted to continue the work you had planned to do on that! It was a worthwhile idea.

My objections are not with Facebook really. I'm willing to make the tradeoffs that are required to participate in Facebook. I wish it were better, but Facebook is responding to incentives and is rewarded for its actions, so it's h

People are so complicated that most "tests" like this, to see how somebody responds, strike me as useless. You are not in a controlled environment, and pretending you are is foolish. You might get a reaction and presume to know th

I'm not sure I follow your second example. I might need more detail to understand how grid-auto-columns ( https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/grid-auto-c... ) does not meet this use case?

I tend to be really solid on the ins and outs of what I'm working on right now, or in the last year. And on stuff older than that I have a good idea of the landscape and the location of certain gotchas, but I find I have to Google cert
