Every (posix) directory has "." and ".." which are both hardlinks to a directory ..

Vertical wildmenu (as opposed to horizontal in the statusline) is the most recent nvim goodie. Also clipboard integration via providers is nice for remote work (:helpgrep lemonade). Made the switch originally because of swifter highlightin

Ah yes, tomsrtbt. I completely forgot about it. It even looks it's still going. Used to have that as a grub boot target, and it has saved my cheese more than once ..

Nice write-up. Back in the day, there was also LOAF (Linux On A Floppy). [1] I had a go at it, until I realized someone beat me to the name. [1] https://linux-center.org/en/distributions/mini-distributions... (Onl

That's perfectly doable. I routinely navigate / extend / debug / refactor a 600 KLOC Java codebase with nvim + ctags + ripgrep and will have the job done well before the language server has even completed digging through

You may want HyperDock[1] which enables that behaviour. There is also HyperSwitch[2] which switches windows, not apps. It's a beta, but still works great on Big Sur. [1] https://bahoom.com/hyperdock [2] https:/&#

I agree there is another can of worms waiting to be opened: agreeing on the schema of said json output. Also structured output is probably way more useful downstream from the likes of ls, exa, ps (say) rather than from grep like tools

I do exactly the same for maven builds, for exactly the same reasons (Discoverable one-liners, bash autocompletion etc.). Added bonus: facade the XML (yuck) based config language of maven

I'd say, what we need is a --json flag on all pipe producers like like ls, exa, find, grep, ripgrep. Then you'll have the best of both worlds: something that is equally(?) parseable by humans and computers. (jq to the rescue)

Brillant. This distinction nails it. Luckily it doesn't matter much in 99.9% of the cases where one just enumerates/filters/maps a collection and indexing is not involved.

Yes, I see your point. I can't remember the context that bit me anymore, but I think it had to with being unable to change the defaults with fconfigure for some reason, the channel being implicit or somesuch .

The biggest gripe I have with modern (ie. the post-Sun era) Tcl is the steaming mess that are channels and their encodings. Good luck trying to do anything 8-bit clean with those. For a simpler, cleaner alternative, you might want to take a
