I think that Visual Studio has it on the right hand side by default, but that's the only editor I can think of that does it.

Over time = how many years? You can still find work in pretty much any language. Think COBOL is a dead language? :)

You'll find with decent SQL and a good backend your SQL will be much quicker than your R/Matlab/Python programs depending on what you want to do.

lichess is also a great website for learning chess, and it's opensource and free. (they have an optional membership for donations which gives you a green checkmark next to your name). Their mobile apps are great as well.

What was with the gray text on websites? It was absurd, I chalked it up to designers using Mac screens at the time?

With listen and notify in Postgres, it's a fantastic choice for a job queue if you're not crazy scale (which is most apps, honestly). Especially with transactions as mentioned, with elixir and ecto and Oban, you can ensure your jo

Looks great, but the example for SQL looks kind of bad. Is that how pg does things? I thought "modern SQL" used CTEs and other fun features, or this that not a thing for pg as much as say snowflake?

I really like nomad for a single node homelab, it's super easy to maintain and deploy stuff.

With elixir and ecto it wraps the whole thing in a transaction so it runs Async across multiple tests.

Bandwidth is only expensive through cloud providers, to try and squeeze you for it. If you go bare metal, dedicated, or just rack your own servers you can peer with a lot of providers and get essentially free bandwidth.

I'm really excited by all the database love in the last few years. I moved to PG from MySQL in 2014 and don't regret it since. Timescaledb looks very exciting, as it's "just" a PG extension, but their compression wo

Same. I had issues back in the day with HDD speeds, but since going to SSDs over 6?+ years ago and now NVME it flies. I use IntelliJ, Clion, Datagrip and sometimes Rubymine if I need to touch Ruby code and it's pretty good.
