I think you can also be quite productive in Emacs in a much shorter time. The difference is: the flexibility of IDEs stops after a while, and then there's nothing new to learn to become more efficient. With Emacs, you can keep on learn

Well, Clojure also was a mess when I tried it (2 years ago maybe?). Leiningen (a/the build system) was pretty slow, and I couldn't find a way to use the language in a more lisp-like way easily, like editing a few files and (re)loa

Yes, it's very cheesy, but maybe rephrase it as "people who are open to trying new languages are more open-minded by definition, and they keep a flexible mind and learn to think about problems in different ways." I mean, howe

I think you can easily learn to accept people, but really really liking them is a lot harder. Most people I meet don't have the same interests as I do, and many are also very shallow that I really don't want to hang out with them.

It doesn't matter how much free time my friends have, or I. It matters how much free time we have available to see each other. I have a reasonable amount of free time, but spend it on recovering from work (unfortunately, I need time of

Fair enough. I was only sharing my thoughts and impressions, thus the phrasing "I think" and similar words. My preference doesn't in any way imply I think less of others that like playing games. I generally like playing games

Definitely. I used to play RPGs as a teenager, but now when I see 20 or 30-somethings playing RPGs (or announcing it on FB), I think "OMG nerd". When I want to relax I read or play casual games, but other than that I'm just t

Compared to code that's very regular, like say Java, Lisp might be less readable, but IMHO Lisp is in general more readable than other languages as soon as your code is more than a sequence of simple non-nested assignment and method ca

If all editing is done in the cloud, I don't see any problems. MS Word isn't designed for collaborative editing. That, or use something like markdown + version control.

I'd really like to switch to a Debian-based system, but ALL Debian-based distros seem to have TERRIBLE battery life, whereas Mint 17 has an excellent one (better than Arch/Manjaro or Fedora and on par with Windows 7). Sigh. And ye
