At some point it becomes a bit ridiculous to be pre 1.0 for nearly a decade. It is symptomatic of a level of complexity and confusion about the core language use cases* that is a nonstarter for me. * In other words, I think it's trying

I am sort of with Kant who believed that we have duties and responsibilities to others. There is an enormous cost imposed by deaths caused by reckless actions, which is not limited just to family and friends. The effects of these types of t

My objection is to the idea that everything true and important can be captured in metrics and quantitatively modeled. Then there is the fact that even to the extent that things like macroeconomics can be modeled (which is never at a level o

Sadly, when I was a postdoc, an eminent mathematician I was working under once shared a story that he found amusing that one of his colleagues was once asked a question in the form: "This might be a stupid question, but..." and th

I agree about the accessibility, but Full Throttle is by far my least favorite lucasarts graphical adventure. It's really quite depressing and I deeply dislike the main character.

That seems crazy to me unless we're prepared to rebuild our infrastructure to allow a majority of the populace to live car free. Otherwise completely eliminating our auto industry would be an enormous national security risk.

The last time I checked, sbt was much faster than mill for incremental builds. Mill has a faster cold startup time, but sbt uses classloader tricks to reuse jitted classes so that it doesn't have to reload the scala standard library. W
