One great feature of gsuite, in my opinion, is the ability to prevent oauth-authenticated access to the email APIs, IMAP, and POP for your organization. These shady apps are ALL stealing your data. Literally every single one of them. And

It’s just a library that allows easier development of C++ servers in the synchronous, thread-per-requests style, similar to working in Go but a bajillion times better because it’s not in Go.

Fibers should be appreciated in context. They are great at Google because in general the function running on a fiber has no need to ever enter the potentially blocking region. In fibers one has to manually annotate the fact that one is, for

You said it a lot better than I could. It’s really weird in our field when people can look at a machine in isolation and praise its abundance of execution resources without really considering if it’s possible to exploit them in software. Th

I'm not a process engineer of course, but my feeling is that abundant free energy changes these equations. It simply does not matter what the efficiency is when the energy input is free. Also you wouldn't burn the fuel for electr

I'm not seeing the problem. Synthetic diesel is its own energy storage medium. If the plant was powered at night by burning its own daytime products, and powered in the day by solar, it would still be carbon neutral.

Is it really so challenging to remove fossil carbon from air travel, or is it merely expensive? With abundant renewable power you can make synthetic fuels that a turbine can burn. It might sound costly but it can be completely carbon neutra

Using the oltp workload that comes packaged with sysbench, the median latency falls from 50us to 25us on a skylake xeon with nvme storage after recompiling MySQL and libc with march=skylake. Give it a whirl.

Why would you care what my benchmarks look like? If you are performance-sensitive, run yours. If you don’t have any, you’re not sensitive to performance.

Maybe, but unless you actually own the old hardware, why would you? By the way mtune is much less effective than march. It might change the way a few instructions are scheduled but march will use the actual instructions and registers on y

If you're actually sensitive to performance you surely would never use upstream debian binary packages. At least for the x86_64 distro they are built to run on Opteron and just rebuilding them for a less-old CPU like Intel Sandy Bridg

We're talking about the person who _led_ the software and data efforts for Clinton in 2016. Clinton's data was bad and misleading and stale, which contributed to the candidate taking victory tours a week before losing four states
