What works for one company may not be acceptable or optimal to other companies. I think the biggest insight is that you should measure these things and see what approach earns you the most money, taking chargebacks into account.

I think the open web-applied to smartphones-will be what the entire smartphone market eventually arrives at. Mozilla is playing the long game and doing a lot of extra work and will go through a lot of issues that they wouldn't if they made

That is true to a degree but you really can not generalize very well at all in java. You will also be hard pressed to find java code written functionally enough that you can just run a unit test and know it is working correctly. Usually you

Whether you wear headphones or not is a matter of how much risk you want to take. Just like riding a motorcycle is more risk than driving a car. Wearing headphones is more risky, but like anything in life, you have to decide if the benefits

I don't really understand why so many people think that the results on DDG are worse than Google. Maybe I just don't search for things that other people do, or I search differently, but for me, I usually prefer the DDG results. Most of it h

I've certainly noticed a difference in speed. I've been using DDG solid for around a couple years now and the only thing I ever really lament is the speed, so I'm very glad you guys are working on it. And it is definitely getting better. An

Great work DDG and yegg! I love DDG and have been using it for well over a year. The quality is just so good that anytime I get on computer set to search Google by default, I only get through a few searches before I'm compelled to head over

The best reason for me is the quality. Between the disambiguation feature and the lack of spam and crappy sites, DDG is really good at finding what you want it to.

For version 8, I think it is a stretch to say that it will support 'closures'. [0] The closures that are proposed are more like a bolted on psuedo solution, basically syntactic sugar that makes the language more complex. You can only use th

The AUR can definitely be tricky, but in my experience it is usually better than configuring and compiling packages without it. Usually you can figure out what is going wrong just by googling the error or looking at the PKGBUILD. In fact, t

I think it actually depends on the language that you use. When I used languages based off C, that didn't lend as well to rapid prototyping, that didn't have a good repl; I would do a lot of design work on paper. I usually ended up over engi

It is not performance or hosting concerns. Java performs good enough and you can host it on things like EC2. The problem is that web startups tend to want to develop things quickly and be able to pivot quickly and easily. Java is not best a
