I'm not so certain. A lot of the value in wine is tied up in branding/marketing, both of which seem rather ephemeral in comparison to other more historically stable measures of value.

I think this goes triple for mathematics. When people say that I'm good at math, I sometimes tell them, "Well, you know, I've been studying math and little else for the majority of the past ten years. Almost anyone who works at something th

Tell me about it. My boyfriend is in hospitality management, I'm in mathematics. Whereas I pull in enough to live comfortably in a single bedroom apartment downtown, he's on financial aid and living with two roommates on the outskirts. It b

Eh. I'm a graduate student in mathematics, and it unless a problem is more or less trivial, it takes too long to force Mathematica to do what I mean. Also I agree with a poster below: this press release is really low on the signal-to-noise.

PS2 Linux support was a massive joke -- they forced linux development to be perfectly orthogonal to the rest of the system, and I don't think anything that separates the PS2 from the typical desktop made it into open source (i.e., GPU drive

Maybe because I'm a mathematician my idea of "intuitive sense" is warped, but intuitively speaking, either John is in Paris or London exclusively. (This isn't given in the statement, but it holds intuitively.) Therefore, in the conclusion,

Admittedly, it seems prima facie ridiculous. The thing is, socialism, Marxism, worker's rights, and etc., started in the university and spread from there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_1968_in_France , for example. So it's not so much
