I have such mixed feelings about this being on HN. Yes, I think we should read it and learn from it. I absolutely agree with the author. It's one of those things I wish everyone knew but for some reason there are still people who don't, so

Looks like TypeScript (Microsoft's typed layer on top of JavaScript) is also using this concept of interfaces as well. Classes implicitly implement interfaces. http://www.typescriptlang.org/Playground/#ex5

While I'm sure using clojure for the entire stack simplifies things for pros like you. It is not an adequate replacement for newbies. You still need to know: Clojure (and the lisp way of things), Java, Javascript, HTML, CSS, and SQL to un

As typical of reddit: sounds clever, but ultimately shallow. And obviously written by nerdy boys. The real world is far more complicated. I'm sure most girls would agree that less attractive gents can be considered "so sweet" and handsome

I don't have the science but I have been standing at my desk for over a year now. My advice is: keep it loose, keep moving around, take lots of breaks. If you were standing, sit for a bit. If you were sitting, walk for a bit. Don't stay

All day on a treadmill is going to be bad on your knees, hips and heels. If you running/jogging make sure you really pay attention to your form if you are going for that long (which is going to conflict with your concentration). If you ar

C# now has `async` and `await`, not the same thing, but similar. Also I'm sure there's about a dozen C++ libraries that will do it.

Apparent Facts: - AF OSI (the Air Force's own little internal FBI-like agency) investigates military members contacting Wikileaks / Julian Assange - AF OSI is alleging that some service-members may be punished under UCMJ 104-D Communicating

I like your implementation a lot better. It's faster, cleaner, and I (somewhat irrationally) feel better about being able to look across 5 missing faces for a match instead of just one.

Your point (which I agree with) would have been better made if you left it at the first paragraph. It quickly turned into an emotional rant.

Is Twitter's policy that the users do own their tweets? I never heard that claim before. I would have assumed not.

The lack of generics makes Go unsuitable to write typesafe, reusable data structures for use in many popular algorithms. That's a fact. That is not a factual statement. It is subjective and it is disputable.

If that is the best attack on my idea, then I'd say that's pretty good! A spammer would have to target the site specifically (for tailor-made script) and parse an animated gif into individual images, then send every image into Tin Eye (whi

Has the Kindle become the new Kleenex and Google? Are the alternatives so insignificant that they aren't worth mentioning? I'm not talking about the Nook, I'm talking about a $50 Alturek e-reader that you can read text files and PDFs on.
