I feel like the only viable model for these delivery apps is delivery with autonomous vehicles like Nuro (or any other, this is just the company I have heard of). Whether that’s actually viable and how soon, I have no idea, but the model as

I think Rails wins out in terms of simplicity, but I haven’t played enough with PHP.

Any chance your configs are on a repo somewhere?! For rails vim and for this tonic setup (if there’s even configs needed for that)

Start moving toward public transit? Public transit is not some new discovery that’s been put on hold because of self-driving attempts. You say this as if it’s cheap or easy to make any kind of significant public transit improvement in an al

This right here. Something monumental would have to happen for senior leadership to green light a rewrite, because that’s a massive project that will bring in no additional revenue.

Electron is ok. Not the best, but not as bad as some people claim it is, though it varies app to app. I feel the same way about React Native.

I loved tender initially, but the recent price increase pushed me to move away from it. I think the platform is good, but prices are steep. Does anyone use Render at scale? I image the bills are hefty.

Compute power is absurdly cheap these days, especially for something as simple as SSR of web pages

In my understanding template would be the entire page. So while an an individual div re-rendering is also technically a template, it's not really the same thing. It's a tiny re-render compared to a page refresh. Again, this is a d

You don’t re render a template. Only what you need to. If it’s a single div then so be it. Which is why it’s SPA-like experience with server side code

There’s no waiting for the user. It’s an SPA experience without the headaches of client side state management. I suppose what you have to learn and add is relative to what you already know and have, isn’t it?

You can do a lot of things, depends on your goals I suppose. You seem to be really sold on the concept of not learning Rails, so I won’t argue with you further. I personally found Rails much easier to learn and use than React or pretty much

You can have those interactions on Rails just like anywhere else. Cloud compute is also absurdly cheap at scale today compared to the past.

Can’t write your backend in react. So presumably someone else is writing an API in their sleep that your app will consume.

This is the way. Rails and Hotwire especially really worth a look. Hope it can gain some traction, so tired of the constant “innovation” of JS frameworks

Really wish Microsoft would contribute/donate to ruby/rails platform even more than Github does already. They can afford to.
