The problem is "knowing their salt to do recruiting" is very hard. In all places I've been, the kinds of interview we are talking about here (technical problems, etc...) are delegated to regular engineers. So those technical

Mercurial had its chance, and it blew it by insisting that the history is immutable and branches are heavy-weight objects (SVN-style). Turns out that's not what people want, so git won. (And the fact that Mercurial supports history edi

That seems pretty opinionated design, I am surprised so many people wanted it. The fan/light combo is neat. Steel work surface with magnetic holders sounds like a great idea. But the rest of items do not make it a "portable worksp

A question for Domino developers: "There is never a question of where the logic for an application is, it's in the same database as the data." - this caught my eye, how did this work? Specifically, say there is an existing ap

When I visit that gritql link, the first line of "Usage" already tells me a lot: (1) what problems can it solve, (2) how do I use it and (3) what is entry threshold. This makes it a very cool tool which I am will be using in the f

ISPs, at least in the US, already offer free email hosting.. they used to offer basic web hosting too, not sure if that's still the case. Using those is worst idea ever. ISPs are all horrible, and the only good thing is you can switch

You spam forums, send emails and abuse any free resources you can find. If you can find them, that is, because without ad revenue they would be closing pretty quickly. It'd be a very different world, I anticipate a lot of paywalls and

Agree, that'd totally work - things like "billboards" or "ads on public transport" are possible to define and regulate. Advertising on the web would be much harder, I'd like to hear a good proposed rule on that
