Not working for either. As many others I think that both (MS and Google) tried to win the other with lame PR and a broken application. The result is embarrassing for both.

Too early to really judge. Let's see how Bing's results from twitter are and then wait for Google. I think that a success will be how they will mine the results. Today from the search results in twitter-search are pretty lame and useless. I

Yes but then you need a certificate to store (your private key). If you are in the same computer it is not a problem, if you move to another one, then you need to take the certificate with you. I think the problem is not as easy if you want

It's an old article from Netword World but it is interesting. I read it a while ago but I remember that was very informative in how William Yeager conceived the architecture of the multi-protocol router (which in deed I think it was the mul

A few years ago this could have been useful for me. I am always late to find the good stuff.

Well carriers do not like Google too much. Remember the pushing of Google for open access in wireless networks?

Aren't they doing the WikiReader? http://www.thewikireader.com/ http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2009/10/openmoko-offline... I do not know if this is just a prototype or actually a real product that they are going to release.

I am not sure either if this is a good idea for Google. Part of the success of Android is that Google is an independent party (well, I guess). Jumping in the HW probably would scare other manufacturers to look for other platforms such as Op

In the corporate world, e-mail is the king. But it is because there is not anything better. It has a lot of problems and it has a broken model for today standards, but still is the best so far.

The problem today are the cost of the infrastructure to support CAs (this may be a minor problem) and usability (I think this is the most difficult to address). I cannot imagine many of my FB friends using PGP (or GnuPG), public and private

Two screens = Screen a for main content + Screen b to access data related the main content. For example accessing the wikipedia, a reference, a map or simple a word definition.

The way that we use it today for example. Many people have inbox full of emails that probably they would not read or attend properly. This is behavioural, not a technical issue but it is an example of why we need other collaborative models.

Yes, it is short and basic in theory, but I it is very practical. In my case I learn best trying and applying concepts in practice. That is why I found the book very useful. Also I accompanied my learning with some other books (i.e. Machin

I imagine that this same concept could be useful to encourage young children (boys) to learn to go to the toilet.

E-mail is broken in many ways (not just SPAM and overfilled inboxes) but I think there is not yet anything better. Facebook, twitter, social nets are still in the process to become effective ways of communication. Google Wave seems promisin

Great news for the community. I imagine that the Mitchell had the same arguments against as Computer Science had 50 years ago. This is the link of the paper that he wrote as the argument of why Machine Learning is a discipline of science.
