At least I know I'm right to avoid anything with a camera on it. You're not crazy if they're after you. I also try to avoid chinese products, but we all know that's not completely possible anymore.

Why bother correcting one letter being left off? You also forgot a comma after "curious".

Why did you respond to my post without reading what I was responding to? Why? Why? I'm so sick of these low effort replies that don't even put the smallest amount of time into even looking at what they're responding to.

I meant run on the cpu itself. Most processors have floating-point support, and fixed-point just uses integer operations. All those heavy libraries require an arbitrary amount of memory for their calculations.

It has to run on a computer. How would you simulate rational arithmetic?

An aversion to instructions sounds like oppositional defiance disorder but more importantly, this is concerning behavior for someone with access to children or women.

> "women and children first" didn't come out of some noble sense of chivalry This is a natural instinct for any decent man, and you can verify it by looking at the attitudes and writings of men in the early 1800s (predatin

Conflicts of interest don't really work like that. You are a patent examiner even after you stop working as one, and for as long as your loyalties and ideas remain with your former job.

You clearly don't understand how much people hate patent trolls and software patents in general. It's all a cruel joke, and getting paid some token sum of money to invalidate a bunch of worthless patents is just a nice bonus. You

I'm wonder now if people working in patent offices actually think they're doing something good and are just overworked, while being completely unaware of the evil they're supporting. It sure sounds like you think there's

Why do I get so many inane responses every time I post here? Does it really take 5 people? It's impossible to respond even if I wanted to.

It's still true, though. If they really don't want people to speculate on why they did something, they can provide a reason. It doesn't require an entire PR team to figure that out.

Yeah, I thought another comment mentioned it was in the EU and read the article with that in mind. Good thing there's ten different people to gently inform me of that.

Can you just communicate like a normal person instead of a redditer trying to win an argument? There's a growing body of snarky responses that are not literally denigrating, but tacitly assume you're such an idiot that you have

It's interesting that you can be "punished" by a judge in the EU for making a last minute request. This is considered standard practice in the US because it gives your opponents less time to organize or respond.

Amazing how quickly history was rewritten. Israel didn't have to go to "literal war" with Britain, because if they would have, they'd have lost immediately. They just went to war against their new neighbors and handily g

That's generally what sets terrorism apart from "regular" crime. Of course, if you're a civilian anywhere near one of these pager-bombs when were triggered it's going to have the same effect.

If the query planner can't optimize out "IF TRUE" I don't know what to say. Is there something deeper happening or is this just gross incompetence?

There's tons of taxes on hiring employees that you have to pay even if you're losing money. Payroll taxes, mandatory insurance taxes, unemployment taxes, probably more I just don't remember off the top of my head.

SQL has so little room for expression or opinionated formatting, so it's funny to people bikeshed over comma placement. I'm kind of jealous that they have time to think about whether left comma or right comma offends them greatly.

Duration of working with SQL doesn't matter. The better SQL programmers don't do it specifically, and have experience in real languages that they bring over to database queries.

I hate having to use a bunch of temp tables, but I regularly run into queries that would never finish if you let the query planner do its thing. Like compilers their ability is highly overrated. Meanwhile, microsoft places constant warnings

C is one of the worst designed programming languages still in use. It's a ridiculous, cruel joke on anyone looking to learn unless your actual goal is to learn what a programming language designed 70s computers looks like.

The only ones that matter don't. If you care that much about seeing a comma somewhere you shouldn't, you have no real problems and shouldn't be complaining.
