But how do you become ideological in the first place. Either you're a conspiracy theorist and believe so many weird things that adding another believe won't top the cart. Or is it that we want to believe explanations that we under

Great so people hostile to your research (eg Republicans) can turn your research political because they can take your notes out of context (try using the word "trick" in your research journal or emails) and use it against you or y

The number of discussions I have had with the staff in mathematics and computer science about the need for such journals would last years. Everyone pretty much wants them because they know the need of saying "hey I already did this an

Fun fact: If they cut you open to remove your appendix and find out that it isn't inflamed or infected then they still remove it since the scar left after surgery is universally known that you already had an appendectomy and so doctor

I think you have found most people's problems, not just with Evernote, but with all other clipping services: it's write often, read once (if at all).

My biggest gripe with the clipper when used on pdf's is the lack of any metadata searching in the pdf for a title suggestion. I hate that I have to type in the title of the pdf as the title is usually "PDF - www.example.com".

They'll need phones with two SIM cards. Every Indian IT person I've met in India always look at me with disdain, but also :), when I tell them I can only have one SIM in my phone.

But that's the beauty of this calculation it just takes one splinter group of one splinter group and they could easily populate the whole galaxy in under 10-100 million years - which, being the conclusion that Fermi found, is nothing a

I love the Drake equation. It's like the shortest shorthand for "Where is your civilisation at?" If you go from left to right, each value determines where you are in the history of galactic civilisations: R* : you need to und

Maxwell's equations show that the speed of light is invariant in all inertial reference frames. In other words, the speed of light is the same no matter what speed you are going. This was a bigger inspiration to Einstein than the MM e

This reminds me of the thick manila envelopes I got in the mail at university. "I have discovered a proof of Fermat's Last Theorem that is at most two pages long." Starts off with the wrong definition of a prime number. Ugh!

The other figure to look at is the amount of money spent. If it's similar to the hardware percentage then you're right, if on the other hand, macOS users spend more on games then a rethink is in order.
