Italy is a unique situation with the world’s second-oldest population. People continue analogizing without acknowledging that confounding factor. I want no part of an armed national guard enforcing a nationwide quarantine. And I’m guessing

The score would almost certainly qualify as a credit report that you are guaranteed access to buy the fair credit reporting act. Pretty much, this article gets the facts wrong in the first two sentences.

But backups to iCloud are optional. Apple has to strike a balance. This is cliche as can be, but the trade off is security for convenience. Fact is, iOS is consumed largely by people who want convenience. They don’t want to lose all of thei

If this is true/accurate, and for the reasons others note, we’re right to be skeptical, what makes it BS in my mind is the effort to suggest that it’s indicative of a systemic issue. It may well be that is the precursor to a nationwide

China strikes me as a good example of this. I remember reading an article that was composed of 5-6 personal stories from young Chinese (20s and 30s). Generally, they’re very happy in China. As far as they’re concerned the leadership took Ch

I mean. No. I understand the point of the article is “look how much I did with so little.” And it’s really good in terms of how much was done. But the final deliverable isn’t at all convincing. Clickbait title.

I’m so delighted to see the promise (as in, potential) of the Internet playing out properly. So often, the stories of the Internet are how it failed to become what we’d all hoped (open, naturally regulating, democratizing). Well, we all kno

Is anyone else exhausted with the lazy, comparative journalism that is ubiquitous these days.

Your analogy is just plain wrong. I leave my door unlocked (and occasionally open) all the time. Still illegal to enter my house, eat my food, etc. And, at the absolute least, it violates basic notions of decency and autonomy.

Same. I own a 100+ year old home, and I often think “what if some rich eccentric stashed gold in the walls?!” I’d go the brute force method, personally. That safe would get opened . . .

This was common in Chicago when I lived there from 2011-2013. "I'd like to pay with credit card" "Machine is broken." "It's all I have." "Fine."

Yep. I'm always amazed at how quickly people crap on Uber. In hindsight it's not a particularly revolutionary service. But does everyone remember how much the Taxi system sucked?

Thanks for posting the raw numbers. London is citing this 14,000 number as if its egregious, but my initial reaction was: "Out of how many total?" Based on the numbers you're posting Uber was literally 99.9% compliant. That&#

But we all know Tim Cook didn’t like a second of it. He’s balancing his personal feelings with his duties of loyalty and care (he owes to Apple Inc). Tim Cook is doing the best he can in a garbage situation. He’s not rolling over for Trump,

Good for him for getting paid now. But that margin is too fat to go unchallenged. Market forced and competition will grind that 1% down quickly.

This whole thing feels like Monopoly money. First, it’s $200m to a company valued at more than $800B. Imagine you had 100k in the bank. That would be like a $25 late payment fee. But on top of that, it’s $200m into the black hole that is ou
