I agree. The fact that Joyce only comes in at number 11 is absurd. edit: On second look, if you exclude the top ten as extraneous, explainable due to the internet poll effect, the remainder of the reader's list isn't that bad.

I'm not sure what the solution is, but it can be difficult to vote on a touchscreen. Perhaps a mobile stylesheet where the vote arrows are to the left and right of the screen would suit, though I'm unsure of the aesthetics would be suitable

First off, the "another failed phone OS" comment is ridiculous. webOS is largely what HP was interested in. It's been developed in a few years by a fairly small team and has obviously added a significant amount of value to the company and

It is incorrect to dismiss the possibility on that ground: RIM has the worst smartphone OS from either a usability standpoint or from an application development standpoint. They've got major catching up to do; internal development doesn't s

Fred is right on the money here. Facebook was the original private channel in the space. It gained an enormous amount of trust and users as a result. They don't seem to realise that the social graph was not their competitive advantage for

Agreed to some extent. There's a lot of work to be done. Adobe as an additional middle man, however, won't fix anything.

Apple's engineering decisions have produced a platform that works pretty well and is enjoyable to develop for. They've sold a lot of handsets as a result. If it weren't for these decisions, then the sales wouldn't have happened and Adobe w

The author has ignored the fact that most companies founded or run by by non-technical people don't usually do that well. (citation needed) At the very least, a company run by a non-technical person is oftentimes not a terribly exciting pr

The underlying situation here is that the runtime should be an open standard. Adobe's insistence that everyone should be dependent on them is absurd seeing as they have little market power to make such demands. There is a huge need for a so

I laughed because they were also a major player in the mobile devices market upon the acquisition of Compaq. Remember the iPaq? They were solid devices at the time and sold well. Granted, your emphasis on WebOS is correct. That time, the

It's also worth noting that a lot of facebook's initial appeal, especially when compared to Myspace at the time, beyond its aesthetic improvement, was the fact that it seemed to stand for privacy. The status quo, myspace, was a public-only

Great point regarding the lack of involvement of "normals". However, the presence of "normals" alters only the magnitude of a phenomenon, not the shape. I'd suspect the shape of a phenomenon wouldn't necessarily change due to the presence o
