I don't believe the economies themselves are broken either. That's a weird hypothesis and no facts to back it up with. The person might be conflating "economies" with some form of "capitalism". Nevertheless, I

Yea but you can also just use Open-Source bitwarden and either self-host, use free-tier for personal use or buy their service for 10$/year and it also enables sharing credentials.

There's also the whole issue that entities (usually governments) have no unified and standardised way of encrypting mails yet, thus to not be open for data protection law lawsuits, they just use paper and mail, which is considered a sa

I don't think the car analogy works: > Sure, the machine might be faster than your current one, but except for the rare few cases when you actually utilize all that power, it won't provide a profoundly different user experience

But people asking specific things about it might become a distraction. Getting unwanted input, or feeling socially obligated to help/change things, might become a distraction.

I think what he has experiences is something I have also seen a lot of times (and am still seeing in my current company): Some developers put their application into SQL. That means, that the whole business logic of the app is SQL, and the

I use news-flash[0], which is a rewrite of feedreader into rust. I also wrote a blog post about how you can use a news-flash category to automatically populate a webring using openring[1]. [0] https://jangernert.gitlab.io/blo

Up until 2018 most trash was exported to China. They stopped importing trash. Germany for example is exporting ~750.000t of plastic waste a year to Asia. And the rate is increasing.

Oh I re-read the comment again and realized they are suggesting part-time lower-income PLUS paternal leave higher-income. That's weird on multiple levels: You want, as you said, optimise for total income; and you want to spend as much

Good point, I'd throw in that "nothing in life is free". Maybe the model could be changed from "7 day trial" to "first month half price"...

Probably. Which is why the news outlet should make their own API public. This will greatly increase the competition between aggregators.

I think what would be much better is a redefinition of the publisher role: Most (big) news outlets already run a lot of their own infrastructure. Web servers, this whole paywall mess, etc etc. What if they could just provide their articles

I just checked some prices for small scale PV farms you can plant to your house. It's 16,83 euro-cent for the PV per KWH and 23,74 euro-cent for the storage. Production is 10KWH, storage is 11KWH. So if we (naively) multiply by 1000 we

I have a much simpler explanation. Most people can't afford it. The median income in Germany is ~44k/yr. If we assume the woman earns a bit less, we can already see why it's more common for the mother to take the paternal lea

If the author (or anybody) really wants to absorb knowledge from books, it's simple and only takes two steps: 1. Take notes while reading, which usually also has the side-effect that you have to re-read passage around your note takin

This has nothing to do with age, and little with experience. You mix up knowledge, skills and proficiencies. If you watch 10 youtube videos, you might gain the knowledge of building a kitchen, but you neither gained the skills of using tool
