One of the unfortunate truths of current human society is that economic incentives are far more powerful than polite requests for group cooperation.

It happens to be a slow and blocking action on MySQL, yes. That's yet another problem with MySQL. You can only make a new table and swap it in if you can stop writing to your old table, or don't care if records go missing. I&#x

I've heard apocryphal stories of companies seeing reduced clickthrough on search results when they've tried canceling ads for which they are the top (or only) search result, especially for extremely niche products. The claimed in

So, let's say your worst fears are true, and it's sending up a log of every app you use. What happens then? What's the harm? I'm not being rhetorical, I really don't follow what the fear is here. I can't im

My standing policy for phones is that I expect people to manage their own availability, and respect that I do the same. If I don't want to answer a call, I don't answer it the first time they call; if it's really an emergency

If this was on nvidia back before nouveau, I can believe it. nvidia's drivers have never supported xrandr, so you need to do everything through their proprietary tools. My thinkpad hotplugs displays with no trouble at all these days,
