The new Alexa uses Claude under the hood, and it also misinterprets my intent, only with a 2 second longer delay and slightly more approachable tone.

Everyone has their own hill to die on, that's the thing about personal computing. It's the same if you ask why they can't switch mobile OS. It's some seemingly trivial app or feature that almost nobody cares about.

They support their phones for years longer than any vendor. This has been widely understood for probably 10+ years at this point. There's plenty of room for criticism without a blanket conspiracy that doesn't match what most can o

I was really looking for tangible, actionable advice since I'm facing slow adoption in my org. This post seems to hide behind the "secret sauce" that it claims made all of the difference.

Once local models are good enough there will be a $20 cloud provider that can give you more context, parameters, and t/s than you could dream of at home. This is true today with services like groq.

That was how I read it as well, as if it had a built-in lambda type service in the cloud. If we're just talking about some API support to call python scripts, that's pretty basic to wire up with any model that supports tool use.

The outage forced me to use the free Amazon Music service that comes with my Amazon Prime subscription. It has many of the annoyances that come with its video services, including ever-present up-sells and muddiness around what's availa

Modern captchas use a number of tools including many of the approaches you mentioned. This why you might sometimes see a CloudFlare "I am not a robot" checkbox that checks itself and moves along before you have much time to even r

I see two issues, let's say "opportunities": First is the limitation to one hue value. Something like the Sunflower (blue + yellow) is just yellow. Maybe there's a tradeoff that could pack more hue but with less luminesc

You may find it interesting that DFW has a nesting pair of eagles that got blown down in a storm and stuck around. What's doubly interesting is that the same area has flocks of parrots that are also thriving.

If debt/deficit reduction was the goal we wouldn't see tax cuts on the rich, gutting the IRS, and teases of $5k rebate checks.

Most of these new models release several variants, typically in the 8b, 30b, and 70b range for personal use. YMMV with each, but you usually use the models that fit your hardware, and the models keep getting better even in the same paramete

Today I'm using 2x 3090's which are over 4 years old at this point and still very usable. To get 48gb vram I would need 3x 5070ti - still over $2k. In 4 years, you'll be able to combine 2 of these to get 256gb unified memory.

I have to disagree - the baseline models satisfy the needs of many casual consumers and the price point puts it within their reach. For $600, most of us could give this to our parents and it would be great for 7-10 years. For those who need
