Back in the day I worked at a place that had HMAC signing on an http endpoint. 50% of the support issues were because people could not properly sign requests and it caused me to learn how to make http in all sorts of crap to help support th

No public company can be "benevolent" Apple still makes 10s of billions a year letting Google be the default search, they have a vested interest in maintaining that revenue. Plus whatever "values" they have will go right

Converter was definitely heard when I was growing up and I would know what you were talking about 100% Now a days I am probably more likely to say "Clicker" unless otherwise prompted.

I am perfectly content for a 90% solution, we should not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

The metaphor breaks down a bit when you consider that teachers don't generally get to pick their students while organizations get to choose their employees. Failing to choose the right employees is a failure of management.

Aha has this person never seen the JS google/CF run for bot detection? The browser APIs spit out so much info about the host system on demand and that doesnt even consider the other tricks they use.

That is totally unsurprising. I would be curious to see what they are doing to achieve that. Likely automating something and not using it like a typical human would.

This often just feels like bad management. They go remote, but don't change a lot of other things or attempt to mitigate the downsides (there are downsides, everything is a trade off) and then claim its a failure when they need a steal

We have a couple ceph clusters. If my systems guys are telling me the truth is it a real time sink to run and can require an awful lot of babysitting at times.

The caveat with these things is usually "when used with high quality proxies". Also I assume this extension is pretty obvious so it wont take long for CF bot detection to see it the same as playwrite or whatever else.

Of course that is true but it undeniably helps. I wonder if postwar Britain watching its hegemony decline will be anything like the current decline of the US.

Makes sense. You can increase interaction and thus ad revenue when people think there are others to interact with. The optics are pretty shit though.

Honestly it is mostly caused by people from the machine learning end of the ecosystem not understanding how cooperative multitasking works and trying to bolt a web framework to their model. That coupled with the relative immaturity of the p

The main problem with those is the memory controller starts to degrade a lot when you use all 128 of those cores. We were doing some testing and > 96 cores at 100% caused a massive degradation in performance. We ended up going with dual

The standard lib is not "bad" it just is modular to avoid C++ like pitfalls. People doing web dev in python could use pythons native json but rarely do because there are other far more performant options for example.

Is there an actual example of this in the wild? I have seen things that generate server stubs but have not encountered something that enforces things like error code/response types etc.

That link is not what they want. That takes openapi spec and writes go code. They want something that reads the go code they have written and creates an openapi spec used to generate clients in other languages.
