It’s more analogous to getting hired at the lock company and sabotaging the locks you assemble to be trivially pickible if you know the right trick. The University of Minnesota case is an interesting one to compare to. I could imagine them

It “wastes” a register when you’re not actively using them. On x86 that can make a big difference, though with the added registers of x86_64 it much less significant.

Is there anything about the performance on unknown files? I've tried a few that aren't "basic" but are widely used enough to be well supported in libmagic and it thinks they're zip files. I know enough about the und

From a pure performance perspective it’d probably be quite slow in comparison to a dedicated implementation for this task. Especially as it wouldn’t fit in memory.

I struggle to see how another tool will take the spot. I think the power of Nix is that the underpinnings are so pure, academic and well thought out that you can rethink package management in a much cleaner and sane way. Unfortunately that

They have instances with 16 chips so I presume there are at least 16 chips per server. I'd also expect the power consumption to be more like 100-200W given they seem more like Google's TPUs than a H100. For the interconnect I doub

Overleaf does a great job of being a web based LaTeX editor. It generally isolates errors well and has a decide mapping between the PDF and source. If you start from one of their templates it’s probably approachable. At least within the sci

In general I'd say nixpkgs is more of an outlier, though the nature of nix makes it a bit different to other package ecosystems. I've contributed to both models and you just end up with a lot of tooling and bots. One of the benifi

Is that an obvious association to the relavent audience? Mixing the French “suisse” with the German abbreviated “ing” is a little odd to my (french) eyes. Or is suisse also common in Swiss German?

Yes, the connection between system memory and the GPU isn’t fast enough to keep the compute units fed with data to process. Generally PCIe latency isn’t as much of a problem as bandwidth.

I suspect it’s that the tips of the shell are intended to be pressure sensitive and trigger an explosion that then detonated the main payload. The explosive in the tip was so sensitive that tearing through paper was enough to detonate it.
