In the EU this is a common issue in some areas where you can commute across a border each day. The rules are well established, albeit varying depending on which border is involved.[1] [1] https://europa.eu/youreurope/ci

I fall into the category of a technical user who could build their own, however I use existing ones as: - It's faster and I already have more fun projects than my time allows. - I don't particularly enjoy writing HTML/CSS (th

There is a perk to this method. If the user has a (encrypted) backup of their phone then the backup can be restored to a new phone and keys can be generated. If not replacing a smashed screen would result in the keys being lost, with very l

They're not low enough to account for the look elsewhere effect[1] (known by a different name in this field, but the idea is the same). In this case they look at 500,000 measurements so finding p-values of 10⁻⁵/10⁻⁶ is expected. [

For datasets from any field there is Zenodo[1] and for particle physics there is hepdata[2]. There is also the CERN opendata portal but this tends to be more about releasing large datasets which require non trivial efforts to analyse. I tho

Tighter timing constraints could definitely work. If the car requires a response within 10ns you can guarantee the fob is within 1.5m of the car.[1] The only issue is the fob has to be able to decode the signal, calculate a response and tra

My biggest problem with ROOT files is the dependency on ROOT, which is tricky to distribute. Though projects like uproot[1] look promising and I think ROOT 7 might improve things. [1] https://github.com/scikit-hep/uproo
