Fuck that. I just left a job where the IT dept just said "yes and" to the executives for 30 years. It was the most fucked environment I've ever seen, and that's saying a lot coming from the MSP space. Professionals get h

Are you in an area with a bad electrical grid or something? In 40+ years I've never had a single device get fried from a surge/storm. My "surge protector" power strips are from the 90s and probably don't even work.

Not OP but I had an XML file with inconsistent formatting for album releases. I wanted to extract YouTube links from it, but the formatting was different from album to album. Nothing you could regex or filter manually. I shoved it all into

Missing the point. I no longer need to buy or rely on someone else for software I want to use. A lot of things I want to do ARE one offs. I can write software and throw it away when I'm done.

I've used it to write poetry as a non writer and this screams AI to me. Not that I even care, but it really smells like an AI collab to me.

How can you possibly be this confident if you don't know the number of times Firefox was run and number of bug reports submitted? Say it's run 100,000,000 times, 1000 reports are submitted, and 10 are bit flips. Seems reasonable.

Couldn't you just maintain a list of cell tower IPs and figure it out with traceroute?

What you're suggesting is literally impossible. There are plenty of mirrors and random people that download the thing in its entirety. The entire planet would have to be nuked for that to be possible.

And you think just anyone can set that up? No sys admin/infra guy needed? Seems pretty risky.

I think this might miss the point. We put off upgrading to an new RMM at work because I was able to hack together some dashboards in a couple days. It's not novel and does exactly what we need it to do, no more. We don't need to p

In my experience, RAM costs will have very little impact on businesses buying servers. When we buy is pretty much set by contract and warranty cycles.

You need the exact same people to run the infra in the cloud. If they don't have IT at all, they aren't spinning up cloud VMs. You're mixing together SaaS and actual cloud infra.

I can say they are used heavily in the construction industry for Autodesk Cloud to render drawings for field workers. Very resource intensive.

I played with openclaw for a week and couldn't really find anything interesting to do with it. I'm in the same boat.

You know I tried this exact thing a few months back, sans the ESP32. You just end up writing a state machine and defining a bunch of constants anyway or the LLM just kinda gets stuck in a loop. Hm, it doesn't seem to know when to eat.

Your experience isn't normal and I seriously question it unless there was some sort of criminal activity being investigated or there was known negligence. I worked for a decent sized MSP and have been through crytptolock scenarios. Ins
