If it’s a small/medium company/team - sure. But if you try doing that in a giant behemoth of a company as an IC - this is a recipe for quick burnout and/or ruining your mental health.

Not even mentioning that the approach the author takes assumes that everyone is a rational player and will not actively try to undermine you and ruin your career if you (even inadvertently) point out that their project may have flaws. I’ve

Or just talk to them regarding how you feel. I concur with one of the commenters below regarding FAANG - you rarely get good feedback if your manager is not supportive of you.

Not the OP but sounds like Google’s “Perf” process. You can take a search through HN and get a couple of accounts. Generally; you write how well you did, then you get a couple of peers to confirm it and give you feedback. Then your manager

It may be general resistance to a concept. More and more services are becoming subscription based, so 5$ here, 5$ there and the cost creeps further.

Thanks for this comment, I’m so glad now I switched to Debian-based for my home server now as it’s essentially just docker+mdadm machine.

You could try working for yourself - it doesn’t necessarily needs to be a new product/business, it can be consulting or algorithmic day trading.

Google’s internal OpenSource releasing policy is actually public: https://opensource.google/ It’s written from a more process/legal viewpoint but you might be able to pick up some ideas in there.

It’s one of those things where I don’t have a reference anymore (since Opteron is no longer actively used) but I distinctly remember AMD Server processor family being notorious for weird unexplained memory issues. I think this is one of the

It depends on how you define the cognitive decline. If it’s losing your creativity, generating less ideas, not being able to be focused on a book - it may be a psychological trauma. I would recommend going to a good psychologist and trying

Not the OP but if you like recording personal statistics, you might like http://reporter-app.com/ . I've been using it for personal experiments a bunch of times (like measuring stress levels).

This sounds like monoclonal antibodies. Aren’t those extremely toilsome to produce, therefore cost tons of money?

Because it’s not profitable to them. It’s absolutely trivial to get purposely-built public housing locations into a database and set up a process to deal with exceptions. But then they would lose their commission.

You are correct. As someone who used to be on very restrictive visas for a while - your job is not “just a job” anymore. It was very much a source of constant stress for me knowing that political shifts at work or a terrible boss could very

I’ve been using Tomboy, then Evernote, then plain Markdown flies and now I have migrated everything to Notion (notion.so). I think I’ll stick with the latter for a while as their organisation system resonates with me quite well.

You’d be surprised but that’s how a lot of medicine works. Your common paracetamol (Panadol) has a mechanism of action that is “not completely understood”. We’ve come a long way in the past 100 years but certain areas are still pretty much

Seems like a build pipeline may be the way to go. Check out Concourse CI or Jenkins Pipelines. Those allow to define multi-stage builds with custom triggers, which should allow you to trigger rebuilding dependent images.
