This is the issue to me as well. It needs to be so much better than my already awesome monitor, keyboard and desktop to make it worth wearing a ridiculous headset. I just don't know if it is really possible to improve on this setup eno

Exactly. The sociology of this counter-narrative is super interesting though. For whatever reason, we just don't want to take on power laws directly. We live in this deluded world that power law distributions are something not "na

Is the single mother selling arts and crafts outside of society then? If anything this is the problem. No one thinks they should pay any taxes. Everyone basically wants to free roll the structures built from taxes without paying anything. I

We need to get past this Christian dogma that we are special. Aliens that could be watching us would be watching many other worlds. The narrative though is always that we are special, something big is just about to happen so if the aliens a

Power law going to power law. I am sure this will result in better games than if not, lol.

I believe you could say the minimax strategy to the 2 player game of heads up no limit is solved but beyond that is stretching it. I am way out of it though. I suspect anything more than 2 players is unsolvable when you factor in the stocha

I have been super into the book Introduction to the Theory of Complex Systems by Thurner, Hanel, Klimek. I thought the whole field of Complex Systems was kind of bullshit before this book. IMO we just don't know that much in this area

If anything though the speed we are able to adapt is what is interesting. In my own life I think of the sitcom "Head of the Class" as a kid. Basically, painted "nerds" and computer geeks as highly sexually undesirable. A

Yea this is just wrong. If we had a true healthcare free market starting from scratch right now the money would go into blood panel sampling and building massive data sets to use machine learning algorithms for classification. If I had a fu

What great works of art have ever come from the State? If anything, we need the ultra rich to fund this kind of thing based on their taste. That worked well in the past with the court musician/composer and patronage. There are so many

Of course that is what would happen. Of course prices are relative. The idea of UBI without a massive increase in apartment/housing supply is frankly moronic. Even then though, it will all be captured. Being poor is still relative exac

You can just visit Pittsburgh to see how preposterous this is. The city is practically unimaginable culturally without Andrew Carnegie's wealth.

My dad was going to do this himself but it is a massive job. He ultimately sent them to a company and received them back on DVD. My family even has reel to reel from the 50s or 60s. The problem though is everyone in them has passed on. I am

I have like 10 photos that are special to me physically printed out. People are such hoarders when it comes to family photos and videos. You are never going to look at 99% of those photos and videos.

Have you not ever read financial history and what things were like without central banks? No one that knows what they are talking about can possibly think we were better off without central banks. It is a childish and clueless view. House O

IMO it is because so many people have a kind of sexual fetish of technophilia. They literally get off on new technology. It doesn't matter if it doesn't solve anything. It just needs to feel new and as if progress is being made.
