Learning lisp is never in vain. You can almost apply your functional programming paradims learnt in clojure to most of the dynamic languages out there. Plus you will be thinking in the immutable way of doing things.

If someone doesn't know Java and c#, which one would u recommend learning ? Which one is more enjoyable and has better ecosystem? Given both are strong in European markets.

Personally I think it's a biggest mistake to use browser engine for a text editor. We already knew how slow and clunky the browsers are and thanks to vscode and atom our text editors are becoming the same. I would stick to sublime text

Not related to the topic but how do you find ocaml as compared to python or rust? Do you think its worth learning today as opposed to rust for high level general purpose programming?

There are lots of things missing in the standard lib though: https://github.com/apple/swift-corelibs-foundation/blob/mast... , it is improving for sure. I am waiting for it to become more mature as well.

I wish rust could have taken a similar approach. I want to do rust development for general purposes as opposed to writing kernels and browser engines in it. I think swift or go are better targeted for these purposes, I wish swift scene on l

Hi sorry for off topic question. But how do u feel about clojure ? I am a python developer and really interested in clojure. Do u think it's worthwhile learning ?

I have installed the usual stuff for python web development (lxml, pillow, django) without any crash. It's quite stable for python development

I have tried both (vsc and atom) and they both have significant typing lag. I want my text editor to be snappy , don't care about fancy features. Unless they plan to port this to c++ or something I am happy with sublime text.

How does Ocaml compare with F#? Now that .net is open source and supports multi platforms, is it fair to compare these 2 languages?

Advice needed. If I don't have Java or .net background would you recommend f# or Scala? I heard Scala is much more complicated than f#. I only know scripting languages like python and ruby.

I am python developer, I am looking forward to program in F#. F# just seems right after developing with python unlike languages like c#, java.

Now that .net is going cross platform, I see a great future of f# (another variant of ML family). Its got multi processors support too.

AFAIK F# is the first class VS citizen since VS 2010. They have a small yet good team working on it. What do you think is missing support in VS for f#?

Could anybody tell me why somebody would prefer mochi over f#? Granted its not dynamically typed but it has strong type inference.
