Oops, I did assume that you could re-lend them after two weeks. Wow, that's a crappy way to do it.

The same way that they've been handling it till now. Book lending isn't really a new invention. Even with the turn off the wireless hack, you can have a max of two copies of the book at once. I don't think it's that big a deal.

I'm possibly wrong, but for me, Merry Christmas has a direct association with buying, sales, or e-mails about a sale etc., while happy holidays doesn't conjure up the same meaning, and hence a higher probability of me opening an e-mail? May

Hmm, let see, all my family's back in India, so a whole day on the internet with my reader feed running on empty. Close to zero posts everywhere except HN today.

Really great stuff. Especially like the idea about intelligent AI finally evolving from the arms race between developing a good spam bot vs making an intelligent spam filter. Software that pretends to be meat. Nicely done.

See, this is the problem. If there's one thing you absolutely cannot say to a programmer, it is that (s)he cannot do something. That just strikes a nerve somewhere. Some fundamental part of me just cannot accept that I as a person am incapa

I disagree though, as a developer. It might be unnecessary to have an incredibly design focussed thinking (but sites like mint.com prove otherwise), but figuring out how a core feature is supposed to work, and then leaving the details to de

That was what I was thinking too. But well, the media has been just addicted to hyping up salaries of the IIM grads who are employed in a similar fashion, and just decided to carry it forward with the IITs.

One of Seth Godin / Scott Adams had a posted that's related to this. The way I look at it is there are people all over the world with diverse skill sets tapping into the internet. There needs to be some sort of collaboration engine where un

I remember reading one of Scott adams' blog posts that wanted an app that worked exactly this. I'm afraid it'll be too impractical for any real use. I'm curious though. How woul it be able to tell the contents of, let's say, a sub just by l

Agree. I think we'll see more of these pop up because there's a great market in India for duplicating existing business models in the US (Groupon, Foursquare, Skype) because of the new 3G spectrum auction. I'm just sad that I don't have the
