When it comes to designing large scale business systems, I read Application Architecture Guide. I read every chapter many times and then eventually got enlightenment. Here is the detail description and PDF book http://msdn.micros

IMO at very high level both a pub-sub and stream based system is the same thing. Both are event driven. But it differs at implementation level. A pub-sub is discrete, not composable and time (or latency or whatever you call it) is captured

I had the opposite experience. I went to study Software Engineering (in 2009) and during first semester I happened to attend a class Programming Paradigms (topic was Functional Programming that day). The lecture was being delivered by John

This papers is from 2003. Now in 2014, Functional Programming gives enough power to event-driven systems that its hard to beat by any other tools/tech/technique. The new mantra is Reactive Programming ( http://www.reacti

Promises are good solution to tackle call back problems. But once you spend a little time with Functional Reactive Programming, You never want to go back to any imperative solution. Functional Reactive Programming eliminates every scenario

I think the word "never" should never be used for any problem that could be solved algorithmically. There is no doubt about that we'll have robotic cars. But when, thats a million dollar question.
