My first thought. It's almost certainly this. SFians could probably check for these as well, given that California has been a medical state for a while.

You wouldn't need a device, would you? Just a rooted Android phone and an app. Maybe a custom kernel.

An AR-15 is just a semiautomatic rifle, so the founding fathers basically had AR-15's. And I would find it very hard to believe that, given the notion of guns, a reasonably intelligent person wouldn't expand the concept to a gun t

Progressive values are in fact the minority. Most people on hacker news (for example, but also in the world at large) do not believe women have rights to bodily integrity, to be respected as people rather than sex objects, and to be comfort

I agree completely. In fact, I think that the only hacker values that are true hacker values are progressive, and that the people invoking "hacker values" to justify misogyny, objectification and sexualization of women, etc., are

It's definitely spot-on. I think it has a great example of anti-feminist/male-privileged mindset: > Desire for civility and freedom from objectification is "censorship" > Wanting to not support misogynists/rap

It's interesting how many anti-Yik Yak posts have been on HN recently. Maybe a competitor is trying to poison the well with some PR heckling.

But decisions only come from ideology in a tertiary sense. Goals are the central contribution of any ideology. What criteria are you basing your decisions on? That is your ideology, and you can't just elide it; your goals come from s

You live in a bubble. There are plenty of people who use Lenovo products that are not tech people. By saying this, even though you don't intend to, you are minimizing the effect of this and being an apologist for lenovo.

I've literally never had that experience with Yik Yak. There's a report button if anyone makes an explicit threat; other than that, when you hold a mirror up to society, it's not the mirror's fault what's reflected.

You can endlessly create emulators that only spam in a specific area. I only know about Fade because of yik yak spam. Yik Yak is anonymous and has no concept of users. Fighting spam is going to be hard.

Fade was viciously spamming yik yak, on the other hand. It's pretty ludicrous of them to pretend like they're being oppressed (and to compare Yik Yak to North Korea!) for retaliation against that.

Most Americans probably have no idea what the NSA is, even now. I'm sure most of my college friends who weren't computer science majors couldn't say what it was or what it did. Soviet citizens probably knew more about what wa

This is not a problem. You can have any hypothesis and any test. If your test has validity it's a valid way to test the hypothesis. That's it. The scientific process is a social one, and if you feel that an experiment is construct

I guess the total cost of meth would be hard to calculate, but I'm totally confident that the health costs tied to obesity are far more damaging than meth. Meth just isn't as common as obesity.
