Thanks for the heads-up. I work in an open-floor-plan office, and dozens of people might be able to see my screen at any random instant. This includes men and women and some from other countries and with different cultural backgrounds. _Pro

So the ironic part is this script would no longer work after these deprecations because installing Homebrew requires a Ruby interpreter[0]. Obviously these things are fixable but a whole lot of people are going to have to do a lot of work t

I have an old Linode with 4-5 personal sites running off a single Apache server. Until recently, it was running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. It took me a few days to safely upgrade to a new Ubuntu version with a new enough Python to successfully run l

Are you talking about existing English words? I'm not sure there are enough longer words for this to be possible, depending on the range of numbers being encoded.

Paradise Bay is an excellent game and it's a darn shame it's shutting down. There's no game quite like it that I'm aware of, and I suspect that many of their players are players that won't switch to another game. I&

Thanks for asking a serious question. Getting a PhD in nutrition is the same as another other PhD -- you study at a graduate program under an existing tenured professor in that field, do original research and successfully defend your disser

Thanks for calling out my mistake on fish vs meat. For what it's worth, I had originally typed "raw meat" but then second-guessed myself and changed it to fish. And my wife wasn't around to correct me. I'm aware tha

I play D&D in person using a paper character sheet and physical dice, but I created that sheet using D&D Beyond. And most of the rest of the party uses D&D Beyond on iPads. Holy hell is that more convenient for tracking spells a

For what it's worth, I'm in the same boat as you. I've been Linux-only on the desktop since 2003, have a five-digit Slashdot ID, and read reddit and Hacker News daily for a decade. Yet I had _literally_ never heard of Krita u
