I've had similar issues to those described in the article. Especially "outlook.com accepted my email, but discarded it." When people buy my book, I my server sends them literally one single email containing a link to the PDF

It's hyperbole. He doesn't, of course, mean that "nobody" would do it but that it wouldn't work because many would refuse.

So he's advocating a particular block cipher (X25519)? (The online format made this hard to read.)

Agreed. I've been on Reddit ten(!) years now and watched Digg rise and fall from the sidelines. This is not like that.

I'm a high school teacher in a public school in Austin, TX. I plan to teach at that school until I retire and write and sell books along the way. If I ever find myself employed in Eastern Europe then something dramatic will have happen

Yes, but there's also a whitelist for EXEs. As a teacher I can use PuTTY without installing it, but the students can't always do so.

I don't I think I know a single person that thinks a person can only be great at a single thing. Or that everyone is even great at anything. I don't who these people are, but they're certainly not in Dweck's article.

This is a big deal for high school students. They can use a school-issued laptop, but they can't install custom software (like an ssh client), so sites like Cloud9 provide access to something that would otherwise by inaccessible to the

I don't think I understand your point. Google Keep works offline, it has seamless syncing when it is online and I can access it from all my devices (including my phone). I guess you don't consider a Chrome App to be a "real

As a Linux user I have never used Evernote, but Google Keep has cross-device persistent notes and I've never had even the tiniest glitch with synchronization.

I'm a high school teacher, and I currently have 4 sections of an intro Java course with 28 students each. (And I also teach an additional 36 students in two sections of the follow-up course.) Each student does 1-3 small programs per cl

I don't understand it either. One-off events in the world don't really interest me. I believe that on any given day in the US, some public school administrator does something stupid where a student is involved. And also the majori

I save my LastPass master password on my home computer, which I never log out of. (It's not a laptop, so it never leaves my office.) If an attacker is already physically in my office then I've got bigger problems.

The car pictured is one that drives Google employees from the parking garage to the front door, if memory serves. It's not for sale to consumers.

The original saying was "the proof of the pudding is in the eating." But like most adages it has been shortened over time to the now less-correct formulation.

Yes, I'm pretty worried about browsing a website with no ads using Chrome on my Linux machine with uBlock origin and Flash disabled. I think I take greater risks going for a walk in the evening.

I'm in the same boat. I dual-booted from 2001 to 2003, but then just switched to Linux full-time. I'm strongly considering dual-booting again to play with Windows 10, but I'm also pretty sure I wouldn't know how to do an

Comments are most certainly indexed by Google. They are not usually ranked highly. And crappy blogs are also indexed and not ranked very highly. Both generate comparable "noise", except that there are a lot more comments.

I don't see why you couldn't do a red-light camera sort-of thing. Spot emissions testers at ground level along with a photo of the offending license plate.
