Except that C is a (the?) natural third cord to use with G and D. And then it's a bit tricky to not get something that sounds like a John Denver song.

I think you are both right as long as it is a matter of "usually" instead of "always". I am very loose about upvoting a show me post. Still, sometimes the poster should have gone through a round of showing friends and doing improvements b

Pieces of puzzle = true statements about the natural numbers. Pieces already put together = proved true statements. Pieces that won't fit = true but unprovable statements. Of course every analogy breaks down somewhere but I thought this one

I thought this article sounded familiar but it took me a while to place it. It's the parable of the sower, Matthew 13:3-8. 3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 4 And when he sowed, som

I wouldn't say any of his books are exactly casual reading. The Large the Small and the Human Mind is probably the most casual in that it merely requires thinking and even then some of that is done for you the responses from Abner Shimony,

Some of the quotes are interesting on their own. All of them are interesting in that so many people found them significant. Also, if you read too many of them at once you start to think in one or two sentence snippets.

Yes, I do question the value of antitrust laws. The Friedman quote was meant to show that given the existence of antitrust laws, it is still not in your long term interest to seek to have them enforced in your industry. Arguing that the g

The important question to me is will this lawsuit do more good than harm. Having the government establish when prices are too high (price fixing, Apple in this case) or too low (unfair competition, Google maps in France) is a risky situati

It would be interesting to see how total income is allocated. That would include income taxes, debt payments, and other things that aren't purchases. Also, I think it's interesting that recreational spending has increased very little. Are

I particularly liked this quote from the article: "My training is never complete." It's a good reminder that a degree or certification is a marker of progress but not an end in itself.

While valid, your points all seem directed to protecting people from themselves. Depending on the details it may be a very bad idea to invest or take investment at this level but who should be the one to make the decision? In this case I
