How anyone alive today can think that is beyond me. Everytime I call anything these days I get 3 minutes of disclaimers about why I should use their website or app instead and a pre-recorded sob story about being really busy etc etc just to

A friend of mine just won the award for best independent album in NZ and he absolutely works by the chore philosophy and has for years. Some people do, some don’t, but if you do the chore thing for long enough it’s undeniable that your apti

I’m a producer/composer and I cannot recommend enough bouncing as you make iterations. It really helps get used to the music out of the context of the DAW. I’ve found it one of the key improvements I’ve made to my flow. I store everyth

I honestly can’t work out if I’m arguing with a bot or not. There is literally a single solution: the main stream is purely a stream of tweets from who you follow. I realise this is an existential threat to machine learning engineers who ju

I moved to London from Auckland, NZ and really struggled for the first winter with the stark dearth of light. Tried all sorts of things: sad lamp, mindfulness, exercise, but mostly just felt miserable until March. The next year I had start

We’ve built our own CMS in Ex with the interface in LiveView and an admin. It builds pages as a single json document comprised of a list of blocks and components, which map to elixir functions and can render themselves. It’s one of those th

I think a lot of that is delivery. In a society like the UK (where I currently live) where there’s a deep and heavy cynicism and sarcasm in the cultural dialog, most people assume you’re taking the piss unless you really can convey you’re n

I think there's a lot of truth to this. I'm new to ML, still going through the ropes on some online courses, but already I can see that, once I get a bit of muscle memory in setting up models etc, there's a whole lot of power

This is excellent advice. Treat work as part of your life, not your whole life. Try and build your social circle of people who aren't in the industry, let alone your colleagues.

Yes, we must be more resistant to hating nations that invade other nations in Europe, unprovoked. We must judge them entirely by their words and reassurances while studiously ignoring their actions and deeds. Only then will we have atoned.
