Oh my, that reminds me of that Black Mirror episode with the red-headed girl that only thought about her rating 24/7. Edit: Season 3, Episode 1 "Nosedive"

> Again, if Canonical is evil and can't be trusted why I would run Mint? Rational self-interest. I don't think the tech giants are good for society, but not working with them would mean slipping into irrelevance. Say, I'm

It has a lot of historical baggage, most notably implicit interdependencies that make it hard/impossible to optimize and reorder stuff. We're entering an era of many-core processors, and IMHO we'll absolutely have to move to

Blows my mind that in 2020 we still can't take browser hw acceleration for a given. I hate sounding like somebody owes me something, but... come on now.

I got Spivak as a first Calculus book and it felt a bit over my head, but if one already has some knowledge and appreciation of analysis, it'd be a great gift.

This. It's easy to get lost in abstractions and start thinking that the real world is just getting in the way of solving your beautiful abstract problem.

Not a fan of Apple, but x86 is a mess and I'd love to see companies pushing for its replacement.

I remember a match where Magnus seemed to be behind, and then suddenly with 20 seconds on the clock he was like "oh, I'm running out of time" and checkmated the other guy in the next 10 moves.

I've tried different options, and know what works for me and what doesn't. Not saying it's the same for everybody, but I'm pretty confident that (1) dark mode works wonders for me, and (2) I'm not the only one.

I also use light mode on a Mac, as I hate the reflections in dark mode. If there's a nonreflective display though, it's dark mode all the way.

Anything you can come up with is a local optimum if you zoom out enough. If it gets the job done, no need to worry about that. If it doesn't, refactoring it will be a good learning experience.
