The primary purpose of income tax (unlike, say, the cigarette tax), isn't to reward or penalize people for making less or more money. It's to generate revenue for the government.

I made the same commitment at the same time (though I've probably paid to see Sony movies, alas), but I was still looking enviously at their laptops last time I was buying one. Still, it gives me a fair amount of satisfaction to choose some

I work for a local-government IT department in the DC area. We're on IE7, but we have automatic updates turned off. At first, a few years ago, it was because there was one specific update that broke our Oracle software, so everything got tu

A comedy special isn't an every-couple-of-weeks thing, and the front page of reddit isn't a very exclusive club. I'd bet five bucks that his next $5 special enjoys a great deal of attention from there.

My x120e, the immediate predecessor, is my everyday machine. I'm sad that I've just got an AMD Fusion instead of an i3, though.

Look, if you sign up, you sign up to actually give marrow if there's a match. Period. Unless you're not healthy enough, there's no excuse for welching on a deal that involves someone's life.

Amit Gupta's influence on bone marrow registration will uncertainly save several lives over the next decades. The role of technology and the associated community is an important part of that story. It's certainly one of the factors in my de

"Nothing," really? This seems like a very real-world sort of test that gives a fairly decent indication of the kind of pictures that you're likely to get in the conditions indicated. It's not scientific, and there are lots of uncontrolled v
