Entry level police positions are typically very competitive. In some jurisdictions (in my area in NJ specifically), you simply cannot get hired without having connections to existing or retired officers. Getting fired is virtually unheard

If NJ is any indication, higher salaries do nothing to prevent police corruption.

Why would you be using (what I'm assuming is) a $2.5 million distribution from your business to buy a house? It seems like the better route would be to keep your business and its cash offshore and pay yourself a salary which would be taxed

The standard operating procedure for working on the FB platform is "do as much as you can get away with". The FB compliance team seems to enforce their rules pretty unevenly and with varying aggressiveness, which makes breaking their rules

I prefer to label successful businessmen as socially or emotionally intelligent. Building a business requires many things, but the type of "genius" that we got from great physicists and artists is certainly not analogous to bringing people

How do you transfer them? I've searched for a while and never saw an option in the customized GoDaddy interface that the Google Apps domains use.

This captured my feelings exactly about the ubiquity of this term in wanna-be-trendy job postings. I've seen quite a few companies use it, and without exception, it has meant that the company didn't know what you'd even be doing. It also

When I first started with vim, I immediately downloaded every possible plugin I ever thought I'd ever use, along with a bunch of complicated scripts that I added to my .vimrc, with hundreds of different options I copied from others' .vimrc

I find myself using fX (find character X) often, where X is a character at the position I want to start editing. When I'm editing string parameters of a function I'm calling, I use di' / di" a lot (moves to first ' / ", deletes inside conte

You really need to out the company that did this. If not for revenge, do it so that they can't screw anyone else over in a similar situation.

I always mean to wash my hands, but I'm usually distracted with thoughts about what ingredients I forgot to put in your meal. Shame on my forgetfulness.

I'm always amused that people on such an ostensibly geeky site have such intense hatred for lame, geeky kinds of humor. I kind of like it, though.

I recently had something similar happen to me. I've got an individual PPO plan and my "routine checkup" was over $400. It was less than 15 minutes long... insurance company notified me that I am responsible for $171 beyond the $30 co-pay
