I read a very interesting question on Quora that relates to this: http://www.quora.com/Psychology/Why-are-some-people-more-res... "People can also learn these self-theories from the kind of praise they receive (Mueller & Dweck, 1998).

I think once the web framework holdouts like Django and Flask move to Python 3 we will begin to see a broader adoption of Python 3 in the startup community. I don't expect to see a lot of apps being ported to 3.x, but I would think most ne

"Calories in / calories out" is far from scientific. 500 calories of ice cream will not have the same effect on your body as 500 calories of lean chicken breast. It's a very rough approximation intended to get people thinking about their

I think the biggest cultural problem we have is the constant search and glorification of the prodigy/wonderkid and the consequent obsession with "natural talent", as if everyone has some special innate skill that they're destined to discove

I was lucky enough to find IPython early on when I started with Python. I'm constantly amazed with its feature set. Some cool things I found useful: The "run" command for running python scripts: * -t to print timing information * -p to pr

I've noticed Google voice search is taking much longer now than I remember it taking on 2.3. Not always, but like 1 out of 3 times it will hang for up to 60 seconds on simple commands like "call Mom".

I got an order in for a 16GB Nexus 4 after about 5-10 minutes of shopping cart and payment errors on the Play Store. My order's timestamp is 11:50am. Looks like it's all sold out in the US... before the stated 12pm PST release time. I th

I don't think poor, white people are an edge case. As of 2007, 9.9% of the white, non-hispanic population lived in poverty (compared to 27.6% of black people and 26.6% of hispanics). The numbers are lower, but they are far from edge cases

You can run a small reserved instance for $11.71/month (with $195 prepayment for the year). That comes out to about $27.96/month, plus data transfer fees. If you prepay for 3 years, it averages out to about $17.85/month.

I think he had them backwards -- I've heard similar stories from others who own gas stations. Gas makes up a substantial portion of their revenue, but the margins are so thin that most of the profit comes from the food and retail services.
