I wonder how many plausible alternative captions we can come up with for this map? A few takes: * Corruption level (blue is less) * Income per capita (blue is more) * Education level (blue is better) * Price of a beer (blue is more)

The backstory behind the data gathering to make the map is a good read. They have put a lot of effort to cleanse and understand the raw data. There are plenty of nice articles on the what and why: http://globalfishingwatch.org&#x

This so much. It is my only real complaint about notebooks. Would be so much nicer if a notebook was split in two files, like `my-notebook.input.ipynb` and `my-notebook.output.ipynb`, where `my-notebook.input.ipynb` would only contain code

I had the same experience. I manually partitioned a pg10 db and it was quite a lot of work to make sure I had all the partitions I need. Then I switched to timescale and got it was just a breeze. I could partition a dataset both in time and

I have also had that idea. Instead of giant machines only capable of harvesting monocultures, couldn't we downscale to small, autonomous vehicles that can farm efficiently on a vegetable garden at scale. Many cheap drones to farm the w
