How does this not use up tokens incredibly fast though? I have a Pro subscription and bang up against the limits pretty regularly.

Quickly becoming my least-favorite account. If you’re going to have a schtick, have a schtick. Write your comments in and old timey voice or iambic pentameter or whatever, include a signature, ascii art, lean into being annoying.

Hopefully one of the researchers was able to save the dead guy’s streak. Wonder what language he was learning and why.

In my experience, you won't hear from them at all. Heard the same from another HN member. They have another post in this thread that got downvoted away.

Unclench and stop seeing everything as virtual signaling. What about al those White Knight, SJWs in the 70s who were against leaded gas? Still virtue signaling?

As much as it is fun to imagine you believing the false dilemma you've presented, I don't think the OP was suggesting not providing another option.

Is that a freedom? You're defining everything as though the US were the optimal model of society. Couldn't I just as easily define the freedom to be safe from guns?

I mean, we used to turn single-sided 5 1/4" disks for the C64 into double-sided disks through the use of cutting-edge technology. Literally. I was fancy and got a $5 hole punch built for the job, but scissors worked too. Fast Hack

Yeah, I don’t get the issues here. I’ve led projects that served millions of requests a day, had dozens of apps and while there are always going to be pain points and bottlenecks, nothing about the framework itself is a hinderance to refact

What are you getting at? The idea of any of the major news outlets in the US being left-leaning is risible nowadays.

Henry Rollins too. '“One day, I’m gonna write that novel.” Pal? You better start tomorrow morning because the right time never happens. It’s when you boldly determine it. It’s like running on a rainy day. You’re fine once you get out

OP, if you’re still lurking, are you familiar with the Flashman series? I feel like it falls somewhere between the poles here. Either way, would highly recommend it to anyone who likes Adams, history, learning or reprobates.

I think that's a bit ungenerous: there is a push and pull between security and seamless user experience and it's never obvious where the line should be set. You really only figure out which way to move it after someone complains.

The White Album is awesome. Other Didion on California is kind of conservative and dismissive of the changes in culture among young people.
