Kind of counter intuitive. Wouldn’t the GPU be more efficient at rendering graphics than the CPU? For laptop models with dedicated GPU just use the integrated one on battery but ALWAYS prefer Metal GPU rendering to software.

It’s also the lingua franca of tech. There isn’t any way to say “Linux Kernel Networking Subsystem” or “8-Way associative cache” in French or any other language without severe lingual contortions.

Just run CI + tests using the release compiler instead of the dev one. Not a big deal. Also it’s trivial to change the dev compiler when debugging something that might be a compiler error (it never is though).

As someone who used to write c++ these are the reasons clang was great for development: - compiles faster - better error messages - tooling (clangformat) is great When it came time to cut a release binary you could always also bu

The XPS13 is garbage. Sure the screen looks cool but at the end of the day it’s still a Dell. The quality is miserable and the support when it breaks is abominable. Get a thinkpad (x or t series) or Mac, you won’t regret it. Note: Dell if y

I always thought it was peculiar that the “net” one was not the security focused one.

Do they really belong to the same league? I’m sure this will be downvoted into oblivion because everyone on here is working on these projects but I don’t think self driving cars should be uttered in the same breath as any of the aforementio

So in other words, no, there is nothing comparable on the market if you want all core performance like this.

Except smart sync only works on mac and windows. Linux is a second class citizen. I’d sign up for Dropbox if they had feature parity on Linux. Also a plan in the $5 range would be greatly preferred. My threshold for moderately helpful servi

There cannot be THAT many different touch pads or drivers for them out there that this is impossible. I bet there are only three or four types of main brands at most which probably all come from the same factory in China. It’s not like ever

Who cares? I don’t want to argue on the internet but either take your laptop to get the keyboard replaced for free or... don’t. I don’t get the rage about all this. Life is too short to care about a MacBook keyboard problem this passionatel

The most interesting thing here is that Apple previously did not ship 32gb ram in laptops because it was not available as a LPDDR3 single chip. Here you see the 15 inch models now use DDR4 (not LP - low power). Basically Phil Schiller relen

Who is buying the MacBook Air right now anyway? The pro is lighter, smaller, faster and better performance for the money. They are very similarly priced I am not sure why anyone would purchase the air given the updated 13 MBP is available.

Right and I don’t want to discount that. The scale they’ve achieved and the team that delivered it are incredible but presumably the people who want it to be open source won’t need any of that. They’ll be running it on a raspberry pi, not h

Why? It’s free for open source, reasonable for enterprise and private use and I think you could build a better one starting from scratch. GitHub’s success is largely due to the network effect and it’s entrenched status as the canonical code

Anything where you have to install python is kind of a drag. Same thing with awslogs, etc... Saw installs as a single binary, is performant, and has better looking output than all of them.

Regarding the tooling: I hated debugging Lambdas via CloudWatch logs when using them for Hustle, it drove me to drink. I eventually got upset enough that I made a tool to stream the cloudwatch logs to the terminal and colorize, indent + nic
