One thing I do know is that putting tons of huge wind farms off of the coast of California would likely be a disaster for migratory birds that travel the pacific flyway down the coast, many of which are not found anywhere else in the world.

I'm not sure, but it's worth pointing out that more and more of Apple's revenue is coming from software services, not hardware.

Trust me, I'd love to create a JavaScript-free version of our app! But for now we are dedicating most of our time to communicating with projects, our users, and generating ideas for making a real impact in the climate crisis.

We are working on this at Wren (YC 2019) — reforestation and regenerative agroforestry are very effective methods for sequestering and offsetting carbon. The more people that support these projects, the bigger scale they get. https:/&

I'm so confused by this comment. You downloaded Firefox on MacOS and scrolling was broken? Scrolling itself is always broken on Firefox on all platforms? Considering that scrolling clearly isn't broken for Firefox users (I think M

Right, no doubt about that. However, the perception of nuclear energy is just as important for policy as the science of nuclear energy. Therefore, I think gut reactions are important to discuss alongside the science.

This is essentially the "effective altruism" argument, and I don't disagree with it. I was simply explaining my gut reaction, which I think is also worth discussion alongside a conversation about the true value of nuclear ene

While I do agree with the premise of the article, my gut reaction is "tell that to the community living in Hunter's Point in San Francisco." That community has suffered from being around radioactive waste from nuclear researc

You can live decently in the valley on a lot less than 300k. Speaking from experience, even 90k is perfectly comfortable. Based on the salaries of my friends in SF, $150k is a very reasonable salary that allows a fantastic lifestyle.

Typescript is relatively new, and I think a lot of those companies are still trying new things and experimenting with what works. I expect that we will see more refined content and books about TS-at-scale in the near future though. However,

The amount of vitriol directed at Everlane for this Union thing is astounding. There never was a union. Some people on the team wanted to form one, but most did not. It caused huge cultural issues and tension across the team, and the pro-un

Speaking as a former employee with many friends on the front lines of this event, the lay-offs have very little to do with the team that (previously) wanted to unionize, and much more to do with COVID financial impact and the retail team, o

That’s a good point, I’ll think about it some more. I suppose I just wish that writers could talk about the issue with a little more nuance.
