From that article: "The real question is, does Hare have an[y] business existing when Zig and Myrddin already exist?" Why do people question whether something such as a programming language has business existing? Do they believe i

The TX-6 is aimed at people who own the other TE stuff which is 3.5mm. If you're looking for a solid audio interface, consider RME or Apogee.

Who else read BS terms like "self-development" and "inner work" and had to hold down the vomit? Who talks like that?

I've got a little Rust GUI library that's pretty young, and relatively simple, so maybe fun to contribute to: https://github.com/audulus/rui :)

It’s not a problem for the typical C programmer, it’s a problem for the person writing anything that parses C. And it’s not the only issue.

How does the existence of another programming language cause a lot of work and unnecessary problems? Like, the existence of, say, Zig, which I haven’t used, hasn’t seemed to cause anyone any problems.

Ok so K&R style is going to be removed (good!) as others have pointed out. The compiler could provide a tool to automatically update the function signatures, making it relatively easy to update legacy code. Also, it seems to me that any

I find the notion of “how many do we need” an insult to human creativity. Also, simply asserting that those making new languages want to “carve out a name for themselves” is highly presumptuous.

Why wouldn’t it be hard to reduce that number? Architectures do differ after all.

So deprecate that. Start popping up warnings. Surely C has deprecated something in its lifetime, right?

I don't get it. At one point C changed its syntax for function arguments (significantly, I'd say), was that new language ipso facto not C?

Apple currently charges 15% for <$1m revenue. Yes, 30% is pretty standard, however they're also asking you to give up your IP. The open source only policy makes no sense from a business standpoint. Their justification was so the sof

They had a strategy to monetize their App Store, so it wasn't totally donation-ware. I think they fumbled by being purists and not accepting closed-source software in their store. I was initially excited about the concept until I looke

As a full-time indie app dev, I was insulted by Elementary OS in the same way one might be insulted when being lowballed. IIRC they wanted 30% of revenue and your code had to be open source. Nope! I have to make a living.

Despite his short wikipedia page, nobody outside of tech has heard of him, and his holier-than-thou stuff about not rage quitting (a straw man anyway, Haugen didn't rage quit) sure did a whole lot of good.

Bad analogy. Facebook has an algorithm which promotes posts that drive engagement, which is often extremist stuff. Just regulating that (as Haugen suggests) would improve things.
