Any chance of getting them deleted? I'd rather not have mine floating on your posterous account forever.

Is there a way to dele them? I didn't know mine would be saved and viewed by my bosses who undoubtably have a google alert for their startup name.

Yes, what you said better than I did.

I think giving it any name raises expectations. And a female name hints at the software being as useful as a secretary. "Siri, take a memo" (Not that all secretaries are women. I'm talking about stereotypes here. Also I'm not even sure th

This title is incorrect. The article clearly states the ban is on supersized sodas.

by taybin 14y ago
Yeah, exactly. I think giving it a female name raised expectations too.

Sounds like a distracting hell that I have somehow managed without.

I like the posts that are just a stack trace of an NPE in a homework assignment.

Don't these sort of graphs always end up with a couple nodes having the majority of connections? I'm leery of the idea of rating people and suspect this will just make explicit existing hierarchies.

Nice to see a blogger 'fess up to cynical link baiting.

Sometimes I feel like the only software engineer with a wife and child. Nice to know the field isn't entirely 20-somethings.

Her twitter account says she's an engineer. What makes you think her role is Office Manager or QA?

"Only about 30% the length of Java" seems like a huge savings. What would you prefer?
290.
by taybin 14y ago
There are IP ranges reserved for that, much like example.com.

Has anyone considered that twitter is actually pretty stupid?

I hate to harp on this, since you were downvoted to oblivion, but node.js doesn't have module isolation, as a crash in one function will stop the entire program. And it doesn't have message-passing since it doesn't have multiple processes.

by taybin 14y ago
If a function call in a node.js blocks, doesn't the app hang while waiting for it? A single process with event callbacks is almost the opposite of what is described here.

It is getting harder to tell who is actually suffering from paranoid delusions and who is on to something. :(

That's not the point. Maybe substitute "novel writer" for basket weaver.
296.
by taybin 14y ago
Yes, in the same way learning anything can make you a more well-rounded person. Learning category theory would also make you a better basket weaver.

What does that have to do with anything mentioned here?

There's a tendency to overrate the talent at these well known companies. Remember, LinkedIn didn't salt its passwords...
