My advice would be to not listen to anyone who’s primary advice is to avoid one of the most commonly in demand skillsets and denigrates everyone who practices it as being expert beginners.

If people are making art to get rich and failing, it doesn’t kill artists, who’d be making art anyway, it kills the people trying to earn money from their art. Do we need Quad-A blockbuster Ubisoft/Bethesda/Sony/MS/Ninte

Could just be that people in the Bay Area are more absurdly wealthy so they have a higher risk appetite… risk tolerance tends to correlate directly with wealth and security - nobody taking zero salary is doing so in leu of food and shelter.

I think it’s okay to mean what you say. Part of improving literacy is also respecting the intelligence of your audience and not talking down to them. Treating everyone like buffoons makes people act like them - treating them as beings capab

The US is not naively sticking our heads in the sand, our leadership is making direct choices to make sure that they rule over the ashes rather than let a future happen where they have less power.

Which is the stupidest position ever if Google wants to exist long term. Unfortunately there are no workable alternatives. DDG is somehow not better, though I use it to avoid trackers.

Red or blue, those who own property own the levers of power to determine what gets built. I’ve yet to meet anyone who thinks utterly stifling construction restrictions are a good thing, yet they seem to exist everywhere.

This is my experience as well, and that of many people I’ve talked to. The ones who breathlessly state how awesome it is seem to all be business people to me rather than engineers. It keeps throwing me into doubt.
