Thanks, I missed that (I stopped after a couple paragraphs). I did do a quick Google Search after I searched for how many Googlers are in NYC. (Was verifying there's actually 7K.) It's pretty amazing how large some of the non-home

Would be interesting to know how many employees Amazon currently has in NY. I wouldn't be surprised to find out it's already in the thousands.

Except, I'd argue that most large distributed systems these days are using much more than two types of data stores, especially when you start including name/value keystores (and in memory caching variants), big data pipelines, tra

I was going to post about Bloomberg Terminals, but figured since I'm late to the story, someone else already did. Yeup. It's funny how little credit we give to business users these days, and how much marketing UX there can be. The

I was one of the lucky kids who played piano in Jazz band and had a DX7 in high-school during that era. Pretty great to see it living on as a retro music tool. This video went beyond my knowledge of creating sounds back then, but did bring

I've had similar problems with editing photos on an iPad using iPhoto and loosing all the edits when it tried syncing back up when I got connectivity again. I wonder if it's more of a quirk in the iPad APIs or something?

It seems like Google Documents has enough momentum that it's not going to just randomly get shot down. And it doesn't seem to be in the phase of getting neglected.
