I have similar experiences. Sometimes, as part of a fix for an investigation like this that I'm tasked with, I simply take the three days and build the actual correct solution. Or I build part of it, use it to partially automate what I

Pretty good, thanks for sharing. I'm learning angular and this was really useful to me. One comment I have is I don't agree with some of the advice about integration testing. Integration testing shouldn't mock anything (excep

Seems interesting but there isn't enough background on what this is. Just a collection of components, or is there anything custom added on top of the collection of frameworks? The BTC website is pretty bad too, coming from someone who

Are you talking about appointmentreminder? I thought that was a single owner, the guy who lives in Japan and who also created Bingo Card Creator?

It sounds like you don't know how to code, so in what capacity are you joining the big tech company in the bay area (what kind of job role)?

I'm sorry, I know the internet loves him, but Tyson will never be able to replace Sagan.

Did you paste the wrong link? Because that link has nothing to do with continuous integration or nightly builds.

Sorry I am not super familiar with the neighborhoods. I think of Red Hook and Dumbo as the same for some reason, I am thinking of one neighborhood (with lots of tech companies), but not sure which of the two is the name of it. Apparently it

I agree with you that its very complex, and very widespread, and i could see why you'd want it to be taught. But I still think it's not something that belongs in a university. It's still just a specific instance of a piece of

Can't automate anything? That's just false. We have our entire build/deploy/test process automated. Hint: even our server build is automated, and gets rebuilt with every code change.

Linux is not a course typically taught in universities. For the same reason they don't teach courses on Excel, Word, Photoshop, Firefox, etc.

There are over the counter drugs you can buy that solve this problem. This post doesn't belong on HN. Also, such a wrong use of the word "hack".

I don't imagine it ever replacing SV, but supposing a tech scene did take root in the East Bay, where do you think it would be? Think something analogous to "Silicon Alley", AKA Dumbo/Red Hook in Brooklyn, NY.

In my anecdotal experience non-tech founders are quite arrogant. They exhibit a Randian belief that they are capable of doing everything better than the peons who work for them, and like to dictate to others, especially technical folks, how

There is a blob explorer built into visual studio. There are also third party ones available, and lots of command line tools similar to s3cmd built by open source community.
