Yep. Pros 4.) Work like 32 hours a week and take as much vacation as possible and basically phone it in while they keep shoveling money your way. You've got lots of time to look for a new gig at least.

I worked in academia for a couple of years. I don't get it. In addition to the horrible pay, the politics are horrendous and are an order of magnitude worse than private industry. Those pensions are nice though.

Eh. Python and JavaScript are very similar at the language level. They each have warts and are more expressive in certain areas, but at a high level they have the same semantics and the exact same advantages and disadvantages.
