DrawSomething for questions. That's hilarious-- it's the exact same analogy I used when bouncing around ideas for my NLP project last month. We ended up building http://playdeception.com and it worked out really well for the three days we

Just signed Curvio up for it. We're already launched, but we have a half dozen new features/products to launch this summer, so hopefully this helps us stay on track even better! :)

Facebook is not rumored to buy a Face.com-based iPhone app like you were building. They were rumored to buy Face.com-- a computer vision company that has been tweaking their face recognition algorithms for years.

Suspects win by convincing the detective that they're telling the truth. Detectives win by correctly guessing the liar. Technically, you really win based on the final detective guess. We give progressively more points for each question plus

Good idea! I just put that up there quickly to give some indication of how well people are doing. You're totally right though. If we get enough players to make it interesting, we'll add a much awesomer leaderboard and do breakdowns by role

Well the liar has to convince the judge that he is not lying about the answer. However, the answer is the one given by the truth teller and not the liar. So what incentive would the liar have to tell the truth?

How exactly does this make money? There's no clear indicator on the site that either it's a for-pay (e.g. a 'Pricing' tab) or free (e.g. '100% Free!') service.

Subspace is exactly what I had in mind when I saw the OP. It even has a bot API, though unfortunately no one has made a fully-playable one yet.

At least you get indexed by DDG. Curvio has been live for 2 months now, Google has indexed over 2000 of our pages, and we're the #1 result for over 100 different Google queries. Meanwhile, DDG still thinks you're searching for "Cuervo" [1]

Is there a paper behind the design of Zen? I'm assuming it's some combination of heuristics and MCTS.

This article is an excellent summary of all the frustrations I've encountered using both oDesk and Mechanical Turk. I'll add one more issue with MTurk: binary decisions. Some of my tasks can't easily be broken down into accept/reject, or so

Couldn't you just add a prior probability that someone has any problem? Going to the ER is much more difficult than typing something into a web app, so you should use your expert knowledge to adjust that. It would also seem like a better ap

Why I don't use DDG: they don't even index most of my startup's pages. - Google: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ix=... - DDG: http://duckduckgo.com/?q=curvio It seems DDG even thinks I'm asking about Jose Cuerv

I think it's unfair to jump on the guy as being naive or young. I don't know if people who setup these dysfunctional workplaces ever improve. He probably is just not great at running a business, end of story. If you're a controlling person

Thanks! We're trying to expand quickly, so please do come back! We tried to use FB sparingly. It's useful to us because if you want to post comments or suggest an item, it's now much more likely you're going to tie it to your account. This

Right. In a lot of ways cool spotters is a competitor. I think the main difference is that we're focused on connecting people to the show itself rather than an individual celebrity. I believe our design and positioning is also better than C

Good point! I think that's one hypothesis we have to test by seeing how traffic to different episodes/items drops off over time. I personally expect there to be fat tails, but seeing the data will be the only way to find out.
