Hi! My startup [1] is based on an algorithm that can measure the emotional impact of text. Our blog is where we post interesting results from applying our algorithm. [1] http://effectcheck.com

Admittedly, I'm not a source control or git expert by any means. However, in a lot of work environments, it is a contest. Your company decides at the outset that they will commit to use a set of technologies for the next project and that's

Right, but I don't want to use PHP. I don't understand why it wouldn't be just a straight-forward CSS/HTML/JS front-end. Is there some code generated on the server that I'm not getting?

I am a little confused-- why does the theme come with PHP files? Isn't it just a front-end?

Overall, I'll say that the general sentiment of this panel is half true. On the one hand, machine learning research has grown to such a large field that the signal to noise ratio has dropped dramatically. Lots of people try to squeak out an

Just a note-- it's probably better not to have the "seeking work" option at all, or at least in another thread. It creates a lot of visual spam to sort through if you're looking for "seeking freelancer" positions.

Seems like there is a qualitative difference here, though. Your office hours are effectively 37signals customer support from the CEO. Fred's are more of an altruistic way to give back to the startup community. Both are great, just noting th

A bit of friendly advice: you didn't link to Munchery at all in that article. The first time you mention it, it should be a link. :) Also worth noting that the Munchery page contains no way for other chefs to join.

Totally agree. I thought it wasn't listed anywhere until I looked at the comments here. It would probably improve conversions a lot if there was a simple "Pricing" tab at the top.

PG, if you really want to get hard data on whether comments have gotten "meaner", I'd be happy to help with that. It seems the chief complaint is that comments are no longer increasing the happiness and confidence of the community, but rath

Sorry about that, as I noted in another comment, I used page views in the numerator and unique visitors in the denominator. I've updated the article with the appropriate percentages.

I just realized looking at these numbers that I used the # pageviews per browser / total UVs to calculate those percentages. So if you're wondering why they add up to > 100%, that's why. Just understand that the actual numbers are rough
